Core
Values
THIS IS HOW WE
WILL LIVE OUT OUR CORE VALUES!
Explain
Scripture
- by explaining it in a way that touches and increases interest
in learning more.
- by selecting music relating to our scripture text.
Strive for memorable worship and prayer
- by preaching and teaching that Christ is the Son of God, the
Savior of the world, and the Lord of all.
- by being intentional about the music we select to praise and
worship God.
- by assessing the health and direction of our congregation's
educational programs through our Ministry Commission and our
Education Commission meetings.
- by worshiping God through our Altar Call and our Passing the
Peace.
- through our Pastoral Prayer, our Congregational Prayer of 'The
Lord's Prayer', or Friday Prayer Group, our Prayer Chain, and
through our Wednesday Mid-week Service Prayer.
Have genuine fellowship and hospitality
- by our openness, acceptance, and support of all people; by
being inclusive
- through our ''Passing the Peace" to affirm the statement on our
Worship Bulletin that ALL ARE WELCOME HERE!
- by appointing someone to sit with visitors in our midst,
especially single ones, so they are not alone, but sincerely feel
welcomed.
Outreach
- by watching over one another in love, which we do through our
Prayer Group that also sends out Get-Well cards and Thinking of You
cards, through our Prayer Chain and our Prayer Tree where we make
calls to let our congregation know who needs prayer, through our
Prayer Cards filled out by our congregation, and through our
Mid-week Service prayers.
- by meeting the current needs of people, even if they are not
members of our church.
Nurture Christian growth
- by completing the ''Spiritual Gift Inventory'' to determine
what our ''gifts'' are, then developing those gifts and talents God
has given us, and share them to His glory.
- by encouraging our congregation to study and apply God's Word
on a daily basis by reading the Upper Room or some other
daily devotional.
- by leading people to commit their life to God through Holy
Baptism and Of Faith in Jesus Christ.
Be a sanctuary filled with humbleness and love
- by respecting persons of aIl religious faiths.
- by being humble and loving. We do this through our greeting of
people as they come in, as well as our ''hugging'' all people
during the Passing of the Peace. We will also appoint someone to
sit with visitors so they will feel welcome.
Embrace Jesus' mandate to make disciples of aII people
- by teaching our congregation how to witness through Sermon
Series, through Sunday School classes, and through tracts about
witnessing.
- by our devotion to reach out and serve our community,
especially the poor. Also through being a community church meeting
the holistic needs of our congregation and beyond.
